Paper Top

What's more fun then a top? The one you made! :)

To make these paper tops you will need some old newspapers and toothpicks.

1. Mark and cut the newspapers in even stripes. (keep the oppened part of the newspaper toward you)
2. Glue ends of stripes to each other so you get one long stripe (in a nice messy pile).
3. Glue the stripe to the toothpick and start wrapping. Make sure to tighten the paper every once in a while as much as you can. The tighter the better.
4. Once it is finished, you can adjust the shape to a cone if you wish.

Spin, spin, spin!

Dancing Monsters

Punch them all you want, they will roll, get right back up, and invite you for another round.

To make them you will need some paper, tape, play dough and kinder surprise eggs.
1. Find interesting patterns or colors in old newspapers and cut approximately 6*11 cm pieces.
2. Fill one half of the plastic egg (spherical deodorant cap would work even better) with play dough. If you can find some small yet heavy object to put inside it will work even better.
3. Wrap the paper around, and fix it with tape.
4. Close the top with tape and add some eyes, ears, horns, or a bell (as on the green guy's ear above). If you you use blocking tape it's convenient to draw on.

Happy punching!

Soft Baby Toy

For the little ones, when it is all about color, sound and texture, you can easily make many different toys literally in minutes.

You will need a piece of fabric (length twice the width), some ribbons and some scrap fabrics to fill it. Additionally you can sew a bell inside or add a piece of a crinkly plastic bag for sound effects.

1. Fold the fabric in half (good side inside) and sew two sides together. You can already add some ribbons in this step.
2. Turn the fabric right side out. Fill it with some scrap pieces of soft fabric and add materials that make interesting sounds (experiment!). Close the remaining side by putting the two seams together to form a tetrahedron.
3. Add additional ribbons if you wish, and and sew the last seam to close the remaining oppened side.

For additional colors and textures, you can connect several different fabrics to form the rectangular piece you start with. This will also give you more seams to insert ribbons in. Have fun experimenting!

Paper Rocket

They will zooom in front of your nose, chase you around the house and ultimately get lost behind furniture.

To make them you will need paper, glue, scotch tape and a plastic straw.
1. Decorate the paper.
2. Put glue on one of the longer edges. Then role the paper around a pencil starting from the opposite side.
3. Close the top of the rocket with scotch tape.
4. Insert a plastic straw and you are ready to go.
